Craft & Vision

I've written two books for the photography publisher Craft & Vision. The first, Close to Home: Finding Great Photographs in Your Own Back Yard, was published in the fall of 2010 and became one of Craft & Vision's best-selling books. It's about slowing down and seeing great photographs no matter where you live, and how to use those skills no matter where you travel.

The second is Shoot + Share: Getting Your Photographs Out Into the World, which delves into the complex and sometimes confusing world of publishing your work in the right places. I discuss electronic distribution, including social media, as well as the more traditional methods of print distribution. It also includes a chapter on editing your work for the right audience, probably one of the hardest parts about getting your photographs into the world.

Recently, Craft & Vision has stopped publication of these two books, but I'm working on updating both of them and distributing them through this site.

Rear Curtain

I am also the design and layout editor for Rear Curtain magazine, a part of Sabrina Henry's and Ray Ketcham's goal to provide an outlet for emerging and established storytellers to publish their work. We've featured experienced pros like Joe McNally, Michael Freeman, Jack Kurtz, and Gavin Gough, alongside rising stars like Eric Kruszewski, Guillem Lopez, and Magdalena Solé.

We also publish stories on the Rear Curtain website, along with other items of interest to those who want to tell stories with their camera. You can find out more at www.rearcurtain.com.
